Research shows that depression is linked to reduced activity in key areas of the brain that regulate mood and emotion. Flow works with your brain's natural electrical signals to gently stimulate these regions, helping to relieve depression symptoms.
While traditional treatments focused on chemical imbalances, modern neuroscience has revealed that depression is more complex. Recent research shows that directly targeting brain activity can be an effective approach to managing depression symptoms.
The NHS are using Flow to treat depression. You can access a Flow trial if you live in West London, Northamptonshire or Leicestershire and you meet the qualifying criteria, or if you are an NHS clinician suffering from depression.
Every NHS service using the headset has independently published their findings that demonstrate Flow is safe and effective to use. A Crisis Service reported up to 75% drop in feelings about self harm and suicide when patients were using the headset.

Flow uses a technology called tDCS (or transcranial Direct Current Stimulation). This has been used in clinics for over 25 years, and has been proven to be safe and effective across multiple independent trials.

Yes, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is generally considered safe when used according to guidelines. Its safety and performance has been evaluated in hundreds of clinical trials and used for over a decade to treat depression in clinics. Because of the non-invasive nature of tDCS, it is generally well-tolerated and has minimal side effects.
Anxiety is commonly associated with depression, and many Flow users report improvements in both anxiety and mood. Each week, Flow users complete a questionnaire, and about 66% report reduced feelings of unease after just three weeks of use. Since Flow hasn’t been tested as a standalone treatment for anxiety, we recommend it for anxiety relief only if you have depression too.
If Flow proves effective during the first 10 weeks of your treatment, we recommend continuing for at least 6 months, even if you have become symptom-free. This is to prevent relapse.
77% of Flow users experience clinical improvement within three weeks, and in our clinical trial, 57% were completely free of depression after ten weeks. This means that Flow works for most people, but since everyone’s brain chemistry and response to treatment are unique, some people may not respond to Flow. Most people will know if Flow is working for them by the end of three weeks. If it’s not the right fit, you can return it for a full refund under our 30-day money-back guarantee.
